The central atrium at Casa Lotus, which features Roman brick walls and a soaring skylight, has won the national “Wow-Factor Room” category at the 2026 Luxe RED Awards. Appearing to float off the walls, a sloped plaster ceiling draws the eye up to a round oculus with a glass railing, before continuing upward to a north-facing skylight nearly 40 feet high. The skylight itself is set within a series of spiraling folded planes. The feature is apparent from the outside as a pointed spire at the peak of the sloping roof, which itself serves as a unifying architectural element. Under this generous roof, the floor plan is arranged around a series of masonry walls that originate at the central atrium and extend out into the landscape. Check out the project here.
