The Violet Crown Trail, positioned to be Austin's next great outdoor space, will stretch from Zilker Park to nearby Hays County,  connecting neighborhoods, parks, pools, libraries, and schools to new outlets for hiking, biking, and outdoor recreation. Once complete, the 30-mile trail will provide a unique recreational experience as it passes through the urban wildlands of the Barton Creek Wilderness Park, the City of Sunset Valley, and eventually into Hays County.

Working with the Hill Country Conservancy, MRA designed two concepts for bridges along the trail. The first bridge is composed of three arches braced by a series of criss-crossing metal rods that together form a leaf-like profile. The second bridge, a quieter structure, is made up of parallel steel tubes that span a shallow rivulet.
