Situated on a bluff overlooking Lake Travis, this residence frames the views of the surrounding land and water and maintains a respect for the rugged environment in which it dwells.
The house is divided into a main residence and a guesthouse connected by a pool terrace. The exterior utilizes materials typical to the Texas Hill Country, and as the house rises, the walls become more open, culminating in a 360-degree-view office at the third level and an observation tower at the fourth.
The house utilizes basic sustainable principles in its placement and orientation to reduce the house’s ecological impact on the land. These principles are further augmented through the use of deep overhangs, a geothermal mechanical system, water collection and xeriscaping. This house has been given a strong three star rating by the Austin Green Building Program.
